Those of you who've been visiting us a few years will remember how busy our warehouse open day events were, if you came 'that September day' you could even say too busy! So we took on the showroom to make visiting us even better and allow us to do more events and school visits.
However, shortly after Covid hit for the first time. We had no option but to close for almost a year despite much higher overheads and like many businesses the support from the Government was limited as a small business. Then as things picked up we had another lockdown and now this new wave. As such not only has this dramatically reduced our general public footfall but almost all school visits for this year have also been cancelled yet again. (Understandably of course)
In light of this we have had to make a sensible business decision.. That sadly is that we have had to close the showroom until such time as we can return to 'normal' whatever new normal is. Whilst sad because we love seeing you all you'll also know that I don't just give up so here is plan B!
The website is obviously still going strong so you can always order online, and if you are local it's free local delivery on orders over £10 or you can use our click & collect lockers.
Shipping to other areas of the UK continues as normal via DPD.
We also have books available to purchase at Parkend, Longhope, Blakeney and Ruardean shop with new places being set up too including the lovely cafe shop at Vantage Point that many of you used after our toddler sessions.
And most excitingly we are in discussions with larger children's shops to have Books for Bugs outlet sections.. Still the great range of books, at the same prices but on the high street! These will be rolling out around Easter time.
Finally for those that love the thrill of coming behind the scenes, twice a year we will open our main 5000sqft warehouse for everyone to visit. I'll even paint a new rainbow wall in there like the showroom 😉
(School buyers can visit by appointment all year round)
I can't thank everyone enough for the support you have shown and hope you'll continue to join us on our journey down this new route.
We had a great time this warehouse open day celebrating Science week. We had all our usual books available plus a large range of science and STEM books all still available at just £2.50 each. To get hands on with science we also had some fun activities running which everyone was welcome to join in with- these included making a paperclip float on water, making cress heads and even getting an egg inside a bottle! A big well done to Bugs 1 and 3 who not only planned the experiments but also did shows and got people involved. One of my favourite open days so far!
Taken over by Stormtroopers!
What an incredible day! The Gloucestershire Stormtroopers were fantastic so much fun was had by all, parents and children!
And it just so happened to be one of the Stormtroopers birthdays which couldn't go unmarked.. I mean where else would you go and get to buy bargain books and sing happy birthday to a Stormtrooper!!
